K2 Invitational Tournament

The Kenosha Komets are thrilled to announce we will be hosting three levels for the K2 Invitational Tournament.

All K2 Invitational Tournaments have been sanctioned by USA Hockey. All teams must be registered with USA Hockey and must submit a copy of their offical USA Hockey roster a minimum of two weeks prior to the tournament start date.

Games

There is a three game guarantee with a four team minimum. Due to the size of the tournament and three game guarantees, games will begin as early as the Friday morning of each tournament.

While we will try to schedule the closer teams first, with most teams traveling from a distance this is not always possible.  Please ensure your team is aware of this possibility of early  Friday games.

Awards

Four Team Tournament:

Medals will be awarded for all players on the 1st  & 2nd place teams for a four team tournament

Six Team Tournament:

Medals will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams for both levels of the tournament.

Where

All games will be played at the home of the Kenosha Komets, the Kenosha Ice Arena.

7727- 60th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53142

  • Zero points for a loss

Standings

Tournament Standings will be compiled by the tournament director and staff and posted at the rink. Teams will be ranked by the total number of points obtained. In the event of a tie, final standings will be determined by the following criteria:

  • Head-to-Head competition: With three or more teams tied, all teams must have played each other and there must be an obvious winner. If not we skip head-to-head and go to most wins.
  • Most Wins
  • Goal Differential (five goal maximum differential for a single game) involving only the tied teams if all teams played one another
  • Goal Differential (five goal maximum differential for a single game) in all games
  • Fewest Goals against in games involving only the tied teams
  • Fewest Goals against in all games
  • Fewest Penalties
  • Coin toss

Tied Game/Tie Breaking Procedure

Each team will receive one point for a round robin game that is tied at the end of regulation play

Tied Championship Game/Tie Breaking Procedure

If a Championship Game ends in a tie the following tie-breaking procedure will be followed:

  • Five minute sudden death overtime period (four on four plus goalies)
  • Shoot out (five players/team - each player may only shoot once) with the most goals wins
  • If a shootout ends in a tie, a sudden death shootout until a winner is decided (each team must continue through their roster until all players have taken a shot. If the shoot-out is not decided, players will continue to shoot in the same order as their first shots.)

Period Lengths

  • All periods will be on a stop clock unless noted below
  • Goal differential on the scoreboard will not show more than six goals at any given time
  • There will be a running clock any time the goal differential is six or more goals beginning in the Third Period. If that differential drops below six, the clock will stop again.
