Kenosha Civic Veteran's Parade - Sunday, June 29

The Komets will decorate a float to celebrate the 4th of July as well as promote our hockey club to current, and prospective, families in the Kenosha and surrounding community. We hope our Komets families will come out to support our club by helping to decorate our float and then walk in the parade. We generally pass out Komets flyers to the spectators along the route. Wear your Komets swag! Don your roller blades! Decorate your strollers in Komets colors!

Decorate Float:  Decorate the Kenosha Komets float the morning of the parade. We will gather at 9:00 am at Pennoyer Park near the bandshell. Once our float is decorated, we will meet up on Seventh Avenue between 36th and 38th Streets by 11 am. Float judging takes place promptly at 11:30 am. Then we’ll walk in the parade together! PLEASE NOTE MANY STREETS ON AND AROUND THE PARADE WILL BE CLOSED FROM 8:00 AM TO 4:00 PM FOR THE PARADE!

Walk in Parade: Can’t help decorate? You can still come out and show your Komets pride! Wear your Komets gear! Kids and adults can wear roller blades, walk along side the float, strollers welcome (decorate them with Komets colors!) . We will be providing treats to hand out to spectators along the parade route

We are in Division 3 and one of eighteen floats that will compete for the honor of Best in Show, and also first, second and third place ribbons in categories including Artistic Excellence, Patriotism, Hometown Pride, Spirit/Energy and Best Use of Theme. Floats will be judged prior to the parade in the staging area, and winners will be announced during the parade at the announcer’s booth in Navy Memorial Park, in the 5200 block of Sixth Avenue. Please see the maps below!

Komets families will earn a total of one volunteer credit hour by participating in the fun! To sign up to volunteer, sign in to your Crossbar account on the web, and navigate to Volunteer to sign up today.

Parade Route

The parade route will be identical to the last several years, beginning on Seventh Avenue at Washington Road, then heading south through Sixth Avenue downtown and ending on the west side of Library Park. The parade will travel only in the southbound lane on Seventh Avenue, and people are welcome to sit on the boulevard once the parade route is closed to traffic at noon. The best areas for viewing the parade are along Seventh Avenue and Sixth Avenue before the parade reaches Library Park and prepares for disbanding.

Streets will be closed in the parade staging area near Pennoyer Park, south to Washington Road beginning at 10 a.m. However, access will be maintained to the Sesquicentennial Bandshell at Pennoyer Park from 35th Street for those attending the Knights of Columbus Mass at 10 a.m.

Beginning at noon, streets along the parade route will be closed to traffic.
