Birdie Leitza Hockey Grant
We hold an Alumni Game each year as a fundraiser and this year we are excited to be able to make our vision of giving back to our kids a reality. We will be splitting proceeds from the Alumni Game into six grants to be awarded to one player at each of our six hockey levels.
Applications for the grants will be accepted until FALL Tryouts.
Requirements
To be considered for the Birdie Leitza Hockey Grant, applicants must complete an essay on the topic below for their age group. This year they must write on:
- 6U: What is your favorite thing about playing hockey?
- 8U: Who is your favorite teammate and why?
- 10U: How have you helped your teammates during your games?
- 12U: Why is being part of the Kenosha Komets hockey team important to you?
- 14U: How has hockey shaped who you are off the ice?
- 18U: What has hockey taught you about overcoming challenges?
Application Submission
You can submit your completed application packet in a variety of ways. Submit a hard copy of your essay and cover sheet to Shelly Rudy at the rink. Submit your cover sheet and essay via email to Shelly Rudy at promotions@kenoshakomets.com.

How are the winners selected?
The essays will be de-identified so they can be read anonymously and the board will not know who they are until the five winning essays have been selected. Winners will be announced at our Welcome Back to Hockey Event.
