Try Hockey for Free - Whats Next?

The Kenosha Komets were proud to partner with the Chicago Blackhawks, AHAI (Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois), and USA Hockey as hosts of the recent Try Hockey for Free event at the Kenosha Ice Arena.

Each child received a hockey stick, street hockey ball, exclusive ticket offer to a Blackhawks game for the upcoming 2026-27 season, and a USA Hockey jersey when they arrived. And based on the smiles and giggles, they left with the love of hockey!

The event was a huge succces and we look forward to supporting more Try Hockey for Free events in the future! The Try Hockey for Free program is designed to help kids overcome the initial barriers to the sport and get them excited to come back for more.

A special thank you to all our Komets players who came out to volunteer on the ice and show the littles what hockey looks like.

The Kenosha Komets offers a Learn to Skate "Ignition" program for beginners who are still working to be comfortable on skates and may not be ready to incorporate a stick and puck yet.

This program is offered for free for new participants! It takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

We also have a Learn to Play Hockey “DEVO”  program for those skaters who are ready to take the next steps to incorporate stick and puck and learn the fundamentals of hockey.

This program is $100 for an 8-week session and is also on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:35 a.m. - 9:35 a.m.

Don't have gear? No problem! We have a rental program available for gear. You only need to pay a $50 deposit, returned to you when you return the gear. Once rented, there is a $25 per course usage fee after your first session.

We are also partnered with the Little Blackhawks Development Program! Registration for the Little Blackhawks is $209 and includes registration for the next session, brand new head-to-toe gear that is fitted for your child and yours to keep, and 1 ticket to a Blackhawks game!
